PILATES PROGRAMS

Our programs follow the exercises and principles created by Joseph Pilates. We teach a classical, systematic approach to Pilates exercise. Each session incorporates various apparatus such as mat, reformer, Cadillac barrels, chairs, magic circle and pedi-pole with the focus on STRENGTH, STAMINA, STABILITY, & STRETCH.

All programs are based on the principle that you must first strengthen and stabilize the core. All the work starts from and is sustained through the CENTER. Joseph Pilates called the CENTER your "POWERHOUSE".

Pilates taught in this style is a powerful whole body workout! Posture will improve & energy levels will dramatically improve as well. The results will leave you physically and mentally connected, balanced, and renewed.

PROGRAM DESCRIPTIONS

GROUP CLASSES

INTRO TO MAT CLASS

Intro mat classes are group classes that introduce you to the foundation of Pilates movement and language. We recommend these classes for students new to Urbanfront PILATES or Classical Pilates mat work. When you are comfortable with Pilates movement and language, move on to the Open Pilates mat classes.

RESERVATIONS RECOMMENDED BUT NOT REQUIRED

MIXED LEVEL MAT

Mixed Level mat classes are designed for beginner to advanced levels. Emphasis will be on the precision and flow of Pilates mat exercises, challenging each level. PROPS may be used for intermediate to advanced level students.

PREREQUISITE: THREE INTRO TO MAT CLASSES OR PREVIOUS PILATES MAT EXPERIENCE.
RESERVATIONS RECOMMENDED BUT NOT REQUIRED.

OPEN MAT

Open mat classes are designed for intermediate to advanced levels. Emphasis will be on the precision and flow of Pilates mat exercises. This class will be fast paced and challenging.

MINIMUM THREE INTRO TO MAT/MIXED LEVEL MAT CLASSES OR PREVIOUS PILATES MAT EXPERIENCE.
RESERVATIONS RECOMMENDED BUT NOT REQUIRED

XTEND™ BARRE CLASS*

Xtend™ is the most effective barre workout and an efficient way to create a strong and healthy body at any age. Using a series of isometric exercises and stretches, the system focuses on sculpting the body proportionally to keep you challenged. The end result? A long and lean physique… without added bulk. Developed from a dance/Pilates background, you’ll enjoy the workout of a dancer and benefits of Pilates all in one. 55 minutes to gorgeous, Xtend™ gives you:

  • stronger abs and back muscles
  • a lifted derrière
  • improved endurance and overall energy
  • increased flexibility
  • greater body awareness and improved posture

TOWER CLASS*

A combination of Pilates mat work and Wall Unit exercises make this small group class great for clients looking to enhance their Pilates training. Voted one of the "Top Ten Workouts in New York City", Tower Classes utilize a Pilates spring resistant apparatus to help find a deeper connection to your "powerhouse". By utilizing the wall unit you will stretch your muscles while strengthening and toning your arms, legs, back, glutes, and abs. Your core, strength, stability, and balance will be challenged. This class is recommended for clients who have taken several Privates, Duets, or mat classes and are familiar with Pilates movement and language. By utilizing the Wall Unit you will stretch your muscles while strengthening your core. Be prepared for a challenge!

PREREQUISITE: MINIMUM 3 OPEN MAT CLASSES OR PREVIOUS PILATES EXPERIENCE.

LIMITED TO SIX PARTICIPANTS

REFORMER CIRCUIT CLASS*

Fast-track your Pilates foundation with efficient, fun, and cost-effective Reformer Circuit Classes!! The Reformer Circuit Class is filled with variety. Each class will be different, but focuses on the Reformer, as well as utilizing Towers (Wall Units), Wunda Chairs, Barrels, Mat work, and Magic Circles. The difference between Semi-Privates and Reformer classes is that all of the four participants in a class perform the same exercises and work at the same pace. Please refer to our Group Class Schedule for times.

PRERECQUISITE: THREE PRIVATE SESSIONS AND TEACHERS APPROVAL.
CLASSES MAY NOT BE SUITABLE FOR CLIENTS WITH CHRONIC INJURY. RESERVATIONS REQUIRED.
LIMITED TO FOUR PARTICIPANTS

BEGINNER EQUIPMENT SERIES

This five week program is designed for beginner level students, looking to incorporate equipment into a full Pilates workout. The beginner equipment series is a great way to learn and work out on the Reformer, Cadillac, Towers, Mat, and other Pilates apparatus in a small group setting.

LIMITED TO 4 PARTICIPANTS PER SERIES.

INDIVIDUALIZED PILATES SESSIONS

PRIVATE SESSION*

This one-on-one session with you and your teacher utilizes the Reformer, mat, chair, Wall Unit, Cadillac, and barrels. Private Sessions help you to better understand and connect to the fundamentals of Pilates as it applies to your individual needs. This workout is great for beginners as well as students looking to intensify their current workout program. It is strongly recommended that all students begin with at least 1-3 privates before entering a group exercise program.

DUET SESSION*

Two students with one teacher workout in a personalized session utilizing the Reformer, mat, chair, Wall Unit, Cadillac, and barrels. You must book with your own partner as we do not pair students together.

SEMI-PRIVATE SESSION*

Ultimately, our goal is to develop both your competence and confidence so that you are able to participate in semi-private sessions. Once you are comfortable with Pilates language and movement, move on to working out with others. Semi Private Sessions are a great way to utilize the reformer, mat, and other Pilates apparatus in an intimate group setting. Work at your individual level with 2 or 3 other students as you share a teacher’s guidance.

PREREQUISITE: MINIMUM OF FIVE PRIVATE SESSIONS AND TEACHERS APPROVAL.
